David Russell is Chair of the Transition Pathway Initiative, supporting investor efforts in the shift to a low-carbon future. He was Head of Responsible Investment at the UK’s largest pension fund, USS, from 2001 to 2023, leading ESG strategy across asset classes.  David served on the boards of UN PRI, IIGCC, and the International Centre for Pensions Management. He is currently on the boards of UKSIF and several advisory committees. With a background in environmental management and academia, he holds a Master’s in Environmental Impact Assessment and has played a key role in shaping sustainable investment practices in the UK.
